The Brothers Grimm have arrived in the year 2003. They have been receiving many emails about the contents of their very popular fairy tales. Many people feel that the characters within their tales experience gender bias, or gender stereotyping.

This unit will require a certain level of understanding prior to beginning. Students will need to have a clear understanding of the following:
gender
bias
stereotypes
character traits
helplessness
heroism

If students don't have a clear understanding of what they are looking for, the activity will be difficult and they will not learn what is needed.

They have contacted you and need your help. They would like you to evaluate their fairy tales and decide whether or not they do include some type of gender bias. You are probably familiar with their work...Rapunzel, Cinderella, Snow White.
