You and your group members have now successfully rewritten or written a "gender equitable" fairy tale.

First, as a group, discuss some of the issues that came up throughout this experience. Discuss how the positive and negative implications of stereotypes noted in the fairy tale, are related to today's world. Also look for other types of inequity in the world. Record those thoughts on your group's Wrap-Up Worksheet.

After your discussion, be prepared to share your thoughts with the rest of the class.

  • possible articles

During the discussion, you may want to record the student's thoughts on a large piece of paper. Collecting their ideas can serve as a springboard for future discussions. You should really be looking for understanding of bias and equity in their thoughts and comments.

One interesting aspect of bias you will want to discuss deals directly with the tool that students used to complete this project: technology. The term used for inequality in the technology field is "The Digital Divide." Below are two internet resources that you and your students may want to visit and learn more about this popular issue facing educators across the world. Your building or district tech teacher may have additional information for you.
