During the upcoming weeks, you will have the opportunity to read Bearstone, a novel by Will Hobbs, and journey into the life of a young, Ute boy. While on this journey, you will be learning about a young boy named Cloyd. You will also be completing several tasks that will allow you to better understand his life, his culture, and the people that surrounded him.

Not only will you be interacting with the actual novel and students within your classroom, but you will also have the chance to interact with online resources and students from around the country. These other students will be completing the exact same work as you, and will become valuable resources, as well as online friends.

Bearstone is a story about a troubled, teenage boy who is kicked out of a group home for Native American children. He is sent to live with an old rancher who lives outside Durango, Colorado. The boy, Cloyd, is forced to face the challenges of growing up and learns a great deal about himself, as well as others during this tough process.

So, are you ready to begin your journey into the life of Cloyd Atcitty? If so, complete your first task and then begin reading how Lone Bear discovers the power of his brave heritage.

Enter the Bear's Den to begin your Journey...
