| Methods Upon completing an assessment of their current needs and resources, members of the 5th grade team used interview skills to gather additional resources. The team then collaborated on collecting online resources that would compliment the U.S. Regions unit. While implementing these resources, each team member was responsible for collecting specific data. |
| Results The Coyote Creek 5th grade team was successful in their rewriting and redesigning of the U.S. Regions unit. They were able to locate a number of valuable resources that created a new way of learning and teaching for all. The team has begun to build on their current Webliography and will be searching for additional online resources. A couple of the team members are looking into the possibility of creating some of their own resources, such as WebQuests, to use next year. |
Goals 2. The 5th grade team used the Douglas County School District curriculum and outlined specific teaching/learning points and standards for the U.S. Regions unit. 3. Working together, the 5th grade team located resources that were valuable to the development of the U.S. Regions unit. The team located at least one online resource for every Social Studies checkpoint. 4. Each member of the 5th grade team implemented one or two of the Social Studies standards related to the U.S. Regions unit in their own classroom. Each member used data collecting tools to measure the effectiveness of each online resource. 5. After implementing the online learning tools, the 5th grade team members met to review the data they had each collected. Based on their data, the team decided to continue teaching the U.S. Regions unit in the same manner. |
